Tesla Sets Up Its R&D Centre In Bengaluru, Indians Give It A Meme-licious Welcome

Indian automobile enthusiasts seemed overjoyed when Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the American electric vehicle, Tesla, would soon start operations in India. This came in after its CEO Elon Musk has been postponing its arrival with desis believing, ‘agley saal pakka’. Well, the good news is that Tesla has finally made it to India.

According to The Times Of India, it registered a company named Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited to an address in Lavelle Road, Bengaluru.

As reported by Zee News, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa confirmed that Tesla is setting up its research and development (R&D) centre in Bengaluru in his now deleted tweet.

“Karnataka will lead India`s journey towards Green Mobility. Electric Vehicle Manufacturer Tesla will soon start its operations in India with an R&D unit in Bengaluru. I welcome @elonmusk to India & Karnataka and wish him all the very best,” Yediyurappa had tweeted.

Obviously, Indians ki Khushi ka theekana nhi tha. Hence, they took to Twitter to give Tesla a memelicious welcome. Take a look:

Apparently, Tesla is also in touch with other state governments like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh to start its operations. Amid the several promising desi electric vehicle companies mushrooming in India, let’s see how things unfold for this US brand.
