Telangana Engineering Student Dupes Unemployed People Of ₹80 Lakh By Posing As IAS Officer

Cases of people duping others have become alarmingly commonplace. For instance, previously, a Delhi guy posed as a surgeon and duped women for money on dating apps, or how a woman ran a fake cab app in Delhi and duped 1000 people of Rs. 250 crore.

As per a report in Times Now, 22-year-old Barla Laxminarayana, who is a third-year B Tech student in a private engineering college and a resident of Beerpur Mandal, is one of the latest to be accused of duping people. He allegedly introduced himself as an IAS official posted as a joint collector in Mancherial. To make his lies look convincing, he even hired 2 men to pose as his personal assistant and driver.

He told his targets that he would get them jobs in various government departments in exchange for Rs. 3-5 lakhs. His cover was blown after 2 people, Tallapalli Ramesh and Swetha belonging to Jagitial, who had been cheated by him approached the police and lodged a complaint. Further probe revealed that he cheated at least 29 people of Rs. 80 lakh.

The police successfully located and nabbed him, and he was remanded in judicial custody. Two luxurious cars, a motorbike, and Rs. 2.5 lakh were recovered from him, Telangana Today reports.

It is truly shameful that such people are taking advantage of unemployed people in their vulnerable state. Such thick-skinned frauds should not be spared, and we hope the police give him a lesson for life.
