Necessity is the mother of invention. If you’re wondering the reason behind my sudden love for adages, have some patience, because you’re going to get one! It’s been around a month since the Jammu and Kashmir government banned 22 social media services, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter in the disputed valley of Kashmir.
But incidentally, the ban which is meant to deter ‘anti-national elements’ from using social media to their aid has resulted in the rise of Kashmir’s own Zuckerberg!
Meet 16-year-old Zeyan Shafiq from Anantnag district who has devised ‘Kashbook’, Kashmir’s Facebook, to thwart J&K government’s ban.Â
According to reports, Zeyan who finished his 10th standard exams a few months ago created Kashbook back in 2013 along with his now 19-year-old friend Uzair Jan. But the duo decided to relaunch the site within a week of the ban on May 2, 2017.
Apparently Zeyan, a software enthusiast, started learning HTML tags by himself at the age of 11 and tried his hand on computer languages such as C++ and Java.
Since its relaunch, Kashbook has been able to hit the right chord with the masses in Kashmir because of its unique features.  Zeyan, told Catch news,
Apart from all, KashBook also has the option for communicating in Kashmiri.
Well, one thing is clear, Kashbook surely is the answer to the social media gag, the valley is under right now.
