After ending up on the losing side a by a whisker in the first Test at Edgbaston, the Indians have a colossal task in hand as they face England in the second test at Lords. Skipper Virat Kohli and his team will look to seek revenge at the iconic stadium in a bid to justify their position as the ace Test team.
Considering the extreme grind that comes with a Test match, there is no doubt about the fact that the cricketers are offered the best food to survive a grueling five days on the pitch. But do you know what they actually eat? Don’t worry, we have finally found out the lavish cuisines the cricketers are served when the umpires take off the bells for lunch.
The official account of the Indian cricket team shared a snap of the items that were lined up for the visitors, on the first day at Lords. Hold on the foodie inside you!
To begin with, Kohli and his boys had chestnut and thyme soup with some wild mushrooms.
To add the much-needed protein to the diet, stuffed lamb saddle was next on the menu.
The fish lovers in the team definitely had a good time on the table. Reason? Some roasted stone bass. Stone bass is a bathydemersal and oceanodromous fish in the family Polyprionidae. Never mind, even we don’t know what that means, but sounds perfect for the taste buds.
Chicken lasagna with Mediterranean vegetables. Yes, that’s what was next, while all we have for lunch is the regular roti-sabzi (weeps).
The next two dishes were Chicken and paneer tikka! Aah, finally something that I have tasted. 😛
The last item on the chart was dahl and mixed vegetables with prawns in marie rose sauce. Woah, the foodie inside me is craving right now.
Not to miss the mashed potato, basmati rice, popadams, corn and french beans, garden salad and the boiled eggs as add-ons!
Is any lunch complete without desserts? Definitely not. So here is what they had for the sweets – Apple pie and custard, dark chocolate and cherry cheesecake, fresh fruit salad and the ice cream of your choice.
While the chart sinks in, let me quickly order my everyday chapatti for lunch.
