Over the years, there have been countless incidents reported from different parts of India where students have bribed teachers to make them pass their exams. Multiple teachers have complained about receiving Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes in between answer sheets with messages from students pleading with them to increase their overall marks.

Similarly, IPS officer Arun Bothra recently shared a picture of several currency notes and revealed that it was sent to him by a teacher who alleged that the notes were kept inside the answer sheets during board exams by students. They requested the teacher to give them passing marks.

But this incident has happened so many times that it didn’t shock people online. In fact, many shared similar stories of experiencing the same. Others tried to come up with solutions for this problem. Have a look:

I feel #NEP2020 #NationalEducationPolicy will mitigate this situation. The current system even during our student days was not holistic and burdensome, that created redundancy.
This is my personal opinion. I’m expecting NEP to change the mentality of students and lessen the…— Prabin Padhy🇮🇳 (@prabinkp) August 21, 2023
It’s not directly related to the education system. Most of them are either girls or students from remote areas who simply want to complete their schooling. The fact is, they don’t see a future through this education, though.

This has happened to me at least thrice during my paper correction days! To colleagues too even 20 years ago. The money is usually accompanied by a sad story narration instead of answers to exam questions.
Needless to say, such students usually fail.

My mother was a maths teacher in one of the prestigious Odia schools in Cuttack. I still remember, she used to check answer sheets from schools in Bihar. Many students used to put currency notes, write (bad) poetry and what not… “गाय हमारी माता है, हमे कुछ नही आता है”

During our times, students would write prayers and begging teachers to give pass marks
Used to have 5 Rs pocket money for a day

It was there when I was doing my matriculation, back in 90s! Along with sad stories like “everything at home got destroyed due to floods” written on the answer papers and requesting to give passing marks! 😀

Corruption has become a way of life. Everyday students read on newspaper, TV , SM about corrupt politicians, corrupt bureaucrats , corrupt businessesmen etc. They learn what they see.

My nanaji was a teacher. I remember when I was young and visiting one summer he used to bring home board exam answer copies for checking and this used to be a lot – from 20/- to 100/- like 15-20 years back. I was shocked 😂 he used to give marks as per their work anyway.
