“Honesty is the best policy.”
Not many people implement this into their lives in today’s world. Witnessing an honest act has become so rare these days. But this cab driver in Kolkata will prove you wrong.
Bideswar Saw, a 52-year-old cab driver in Kolkata, returned Rs 6 lakh that were left in his taxi by a passenger, who left the money by mistake.
He went to the police station with a small worn-out leather bag that contained 6Â bundles of notes, all of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination. Seeing him with a huge amount of money, the police officer was astounded.
So, here’s what happened:
1. Bideswar Saw was heading to Vidyasagar Setu when a man boarded his taxi. The man got down at Rajabazaar bridge and forgot his bag that contained money in the backseat.
2. The cabbie noticed the bag after the passenger left and therefore, waited for 10 minutes in that area, hoping he would come back to get his bag.
3. When he didn’t return, Saw checked the bag. Seeing so much money in it, he went to the police station to submit the bag.
Did the passenger get back his money? Yes.
He had lodged a complaint in Narkeldanga police station. He was called over and was given the money in front of Bideswar Saw.
Isn’t that amazing? I salute his honesty.
Well done, Bideswar Saw!
