‘Making Friends’ Travel Journo Shares Video Of Woman Tying Flowers On Her Hair In Tamil Nadu

Alex Outhwaite is a travel journalist and TV presenter who has been travelling across India for the past couple of weeks. From Udaipur to Kolkata to Tamil Nadu, Alex has been experiencing the various foods, cultures and festivals of our country with full enthusiasm. It’s safe to say that she has made many friends along the way because in India, we believe in Atithi Devo Bhava (a guest is akin to God) and go out of our way to make their stay memorable.

Alex shared a very touching video on social media from her time in Tamil Nadu. A humble roadside flower seller offers to tie a gajra on Alex’s hair and while doing so, she expresses how pretty she looks.

“In November I spent a month in Tamil Nadu – the south east Indian state. Tamil Nadu has a lot to offer. Miles of coastline, hill stations and tea plantations, thousand year old temples and a focus on the arts. As always though, some of my favourite moments were the unplanned ones – meeting new people,” she wrote.

People online showered a lot of love on the video and called Tamil Nadu a very special place where you’ll find morning flowers and women braiding their hair with them and encouraging others to do so as well.

Our country is such a great place of beauty!
