It is often said that a baby has the power to change the heart of those with the cruellest intentions, that they can turn evil into good. A similar thing happened with a man in Tamil Nadu.
Manikandan, a man living in Cuddalore (TN), had got separated from his wife 2 years ago and their divorce was pending in family court, reports sources.
Unwilling to separate from his wife, he threatened his family that he would take his own life if he wasn’t reunited with her. He poured kerosene oil on himself and tossed a “garland” made with country bombs on his neck.
His family and other residents of the house tried stopping him. They were afraid that the explosive could damage their residence as well. A constable passing through the area was alerted by them and he went on to inform his department.
When a team of police officials arrived the head constable quickly thought of an effective plan to stop the man from blowing himself up. He brought his two-year-old child, put him on the ground, and pleaded Manikandan not to end his life.
When the toddler crawled towards Manikandan and touched him, he had a change of heart. He started sobbing and gave up his plan.
An anguished Manikandan then revealed to the police that he had consumed poison. He was then rushed to the hospital.
Because of a child, a man’s life was saved!
