Man Marries Same Woman 4 Times & Divorces Her Thrice Just To Get 32-Day Leave

I remember being in school and coming up with bizarre excuses to justify a leave. For example, there were multiple times I faked stomach pain, dizziness, and desi students most favourite – the death of a grandparent.

However, one man from Taiwan took things a bit too far. You see, according to Taiwan’s labour laws, anybody who is to get married gets an 8-day leave from work. So the man married a woman as many as 4 times and got a 32-day leave, reports Times Now.

So, this is what he did. He got married to a woman, thereby getting a paid leave, and divorced her the next day. He then married her again, getting another 8-day paid leave, and divorced her the next day. He married her a total of 4 times and divorced her 3 times.

However, the man, who worked at a bank as a clerk, couldn’t fool the authorities of his workplace anymore. The bank soon figured out his intentions and denied him any further paid leave.

However, what happened next was even more shocking. The man lodged a complaint against his employer at the Taipei City Labour Bureau and accused the bank of “breaking the law” by not abiding by Article 2 of the Labour Leave Rules.

According to the law, the man is entitled to get an 8-day leave on getting married. Hence, since he married 4 times, he is entitled to get a 32-day paid leave.

Despite the man misusing the Labour Law, the Taipei City Labour Bureau ruled that the employer “violated” the Labour Law and fined them Rs 52,800 (NT$20,000).

What a massive loophole in Taiwan’s labour law!
