Ayushmann Khurrana’s Wife Tahira Opens Up About Going Bald During Chemo & How She Redefined Beauty For Her Son

We have all grown up listening to the fairy tales where the beautiful princesses had long lustrous locks and fair skin. No wonder, we have set our standards of beauty accordingly. Anything that does not abide by these notions of beauty is not beautiful for us. One such thing is going bald! But Tahira Kashyap redefined beauty with her bold and bald looks when she was undergoing treatment for cancer.

Dealing with the insecurities of giving up on the age-old beauty standards wasn’t a cakewalk for Tahira. She opened up about the process in an interview reports Hindustan Times.

“On an emotional note, you never know how you are going to react until the situation comes. So, when I started going for my chemo, I knew I will lose my hair and I had kept one wig ready, lots of scarves ready, of different colors. I had kept everything ready because I wasn’t ready to go bald,” Tahira said.

She further said, “I had never imagined my bald, not even short hair. I came from the school of thought where beauty meant long hair but that was previous me. But there was one day when the extensions couldn’t hold on to the humble strands of hair I had on my head. So one day I had to decide to shave it off.”

Once Tahira was able to convince herself for the makeover, it was time for her to make her kids understand and she successfully did it.

“When my son saw, he was like, ‘I have seen men go bald, why did it have to happen to my mother? He told me not to meet his friends but I did exactly that, I met them and after spending 15-20 minutes, they knew all is normal. That day I redefined beauty for them,” she said.

Tahira Kashyap not only set new standards of beauty but also inspired us with her strength and courage by fighting and winning over a deadly disease like cancer! Thanks for becoming the much-needed bald fairytale princess for all of us, Tahira!
