Probably touched by her visit, Swara has now expressed her willingness to adopt a child. In fact, she has also registered as a “Prospective Adoptive Parent” with the Central Adoption Resource Authority and is on their adoption waiting list, reported The Telegraph.

Talking about her impressive decision of becoming a single, unmarried parent, the 33-year-old actor said, “I’ve always wanted a family and children. I realized that adoption was a way to marry these things. I am lucky that in India, a single mother is allowed to adopt a child in the states.”

“I have met many couples who have adopted children and have met children who were adopted and are now adults. I know the waiting time is very long, almost three years. But I can’t wait to become a parent through adoption.”

Earlier, several Bollywood celebs like Raveena Tandon, Mithun Chakroborty, Mandira Bedi among others welcomed a baby in their lives through adoption. However, Sushmita Sen was among the first single mothers to have adopted a baby.

As highlighted by Swara through her IG post, as per UNICEF data, there are more than 2.9 crores (29.6 million) orphan children in India. It’s great to see people like Swara and other influential personalities holding the baton and vouching for these genuine causes.
