Every Indian Should Watch This Parody Of “Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera” From Swades

At the outset, I was skeptical of a parody of such a classic song. I mean, who doesn’t like the moving song and lyrics of “Ye Jo Des Hai Tera” from Swades? And would anyone appreciate a parody of an A.R. Rahman song?

Then I hit play on this video.

Incidentally, this parody hit me like a train. Shudh Desi Gaane has done a commendable job at evoking a strong sense of guilt. And guess what, the guilt is even stronger because we’ve not been able to live upto our favourite song: a song that gives us goosebumps each time we hear it.
