Following an acute shortage of oxygen cylinders faced by several hospitals in the national capital due to the rise of COVID-19 cases, Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen is one of the latest celebrities who joined in to do her bit. She asked for help to transport and send some cylinders to help those in need.
It all started when Sushmita tweeted in reaction to a news video where a Shanti Mukand Hospital’s CEO named Sunil Sagar broke down on camera as he spoke of the oxygen shortage crisis that they’re facing at their hospital in Delhi.
#WATCH | Sunil Saggar, CEO, Shanti Mukand Hospital, Delhi breaks down as he speaks about Oxygen crisis at hospital. Says "…We're hardly left with any oxygen. We've requested doctors to discharge patients, whoever can be discharged…It (Oxygen) may last for 2 hrs or something." pic.twitter.com/U7IDvW4tMG

Moved by this, she asked her followers to help her by suggesting a way through which she could send the required cylinders to Delhi from her current location Mumbai. She had already arranged some oxygen cylinders for the usage of Mumbai’s hospitals, but needing the right channel to do so in Delhi as well, India Today reports.
Take a look:
This is deeply heart breaking…oxygen crisis is everywhere. I have managed to organise a few oxygen cylinders for this hospital but have no way to transport it to Delhi from Mumbai…please help me find a way🙏 https://t.co/p8RWuVQMrO

Lots of fans retweeted and amplified her message. She interacted with her followers trying to figure out a way to reach out and help with the transportation. From railways to courier services, various suggestions floated around. Check them out:

And yet, her noble intentions drew the ire of a Twitter user who quizzed her asking why she is sending the oxygen cylinders to Delhi and not helping Mumbai hospitals instead. Have a look:
If Oxygen Crisis is everywhere why are you sending it to Delhi instead of giving it to some similar hospital in Mumbai.

Sushmita went ahead and hit back at the user giving an apt response. She said-
Because mumbai still has oxygen cylinders available, that’s how I found it. Delhi needs it, especially these smaller hospitals, so help if you can.

Later, in a subsequent tweet, she revealed the good news to her fans that the hospital in need has finally received the required oxygen cylinders from somewhere else. She also thanked her fans and followers for helping create awareness.
For now, yes!!!🤗👏 Will send it anyway…there’s never enough!! Thank you for helping & being an absolute sweetheart!! Cheers!!

Rightly said, Sushmita! Staying good-hearted and helping others in whichever way we can is the need of the hour, especially now as India currently recorded a grim milestone of 3.3 lakh new reported coronavirus cases today.
