Today, the cricketer tweeted details of a crime against his family living in Thariyal village of Punjab’s Pathankot district. His uncle and cousin lost their lives and 3 other members were hospitalized after sustaining severe injuries including his aunt who is on life support. He also requested Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to look into the matter.
What happened to my family is Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had sever injuries. Unfortunately my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical & is on life support.

Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night & who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes. @capt_amarinder @CMOPb

Hindustan Times reports that the “Kale Kachhewala gang” allegedly attacked the sleeping family on the night of August 19 and looted cash and gold from their house. Pathankot Senior Superintendent of Police Gulneet Singh Khurana confirmed the death of 58-year-old Ashok Kumar due to head injuries and Pathankot Superintendent of Police Prabhjot Singh Virk said that the victim’s mother 80-year-old Satya Devi had been discharged.
