The Roshan family has been making headlines ever since Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel went public and tweeted about how Sunaina, Hrithik’s sister is being harassed by her family. In case you didn’t know, Sunaina Roshan recently opened up about her problems with the Roshan clan after they chose to remain unsupportive of her relationship.
Shocking revelations were made by Sunaina where she mentioned being physically assaulted by her family, especially pointing out how she had been slapped by father Rakesh Roshan for dating a Muslim man. Senior Roshan allegedly called her boyfriend, Ruhail Amin, a ‘terrorist’ and said that the family wouldn’t accept their relationship. Hrithik has been unsupportive of the relationship as well.
And now Ruhail Amin, who is a journalist by profession, has come on record and opened up about the issue. In an interview with News18, Ruhail said:
“This incident has once again exposed the dark underbelly of identity politics at play in today’s liberal times which are totally uncalled for. This is unfortunate. Labelling someone extremist just because he/she belongs to a certain religion is simply outrageous and needs to be condemned in strongest words.”
Ruhail mentioned how the two first met while they were working for a reputed media house. Later, they lost touch and walked their separate ways but reconnected via social media. Revealing details about his relationship, he said that the Roshan family wasn’t impressed when they first met him.
“They did not approve of our friendship. I also got to know that her parents put a security ring around her post our friendship, and when she told me about it my first reaction was of disbelief and later a good laugh.”
Further commenting on being branded a ‘terrorist’ by Rakesh Roshan, Ruhail said:
“Calling someone a terrorist just because of his identity is unacceptable. Religions and geographies should not become the cornerstones of defining extremism; we need to move beyond that mindset. Most importantly, we need to stand up against ignorant viewpoints, whoever has them.”
He further pointed out the double-standards of the family for accepting Sussanne Khan, also a Muslim, who is now Hrithik’s ex-wife.
“Everyone can see the irony here”, he said.
Now that’s some serious drama going on with the Roshans!
