When is it alright to comment on a person’s body weight? When they gain or lose it? The correct answer is NEVER! The only exception is when the person in question asks for your opinion or starts a conversation on that topic. Unsolicited advice given on social media, especially to people you don’t even know, is just body shaming.
Stand up comedian Sumukhi Suresh was recently on the other end of an Instagram comment that explicitly asked her to lose weight and she replied in the best manner possible.
She talked about her workout regime, diet and how her nutritionist asked her not to choose losing weight over losing her mind. Take a look.
People thought her reply was mic-drop material and discussed the importance of being fit and loving oneself instead of letting body-shamers bring us down.
Body shaming is literally the worst thing ever! It can demean a person till the point they want nothing else in life than to be according to the societal notions of perfect body shape ! Literally seen it, admitting got obsessed in the past! But I just wanna be fit & healthy now!

After you lose weight, you will be asked to look more fairer. So, there's no end to it. You answer these peeps doing just the opposite. Say you are eating the best chocolate sundae which she can never think about in her dreams. Enjoy life not looks.

Apart from how calmly she took that jibe, I'm happy she didn't go down the "I love the way I am" and instead chose to love herself better… https://t.co/zfQC2k7Mas

People, sigh! I will never forget how I was ambushed twice by unknown aunties-nutritionists and just asked to take an appointment/given unsolicited advice on my weight. The guilt trip they send you on just to market their stuff is appalling! https://t.co/uUWRzDs4Jf

Isn’t it just the worst when women criticize other women instead of supporting them? Everyone is fighting their own battle and giving advice without knowing the full facts can actually be harmful, don’t you think?
