Class 7 Students Teach Classmates How To Use Menstrual Cups, Pads & Tampons, Including Boys

Menstruation and period products are still seen as taboo subjects in many parts of the world. Often surrounded by secrecy and embarrassment, the topic of menstrual health is rarely discussed openly, especially among children. However, it is crucial to educate kids, including boys, about menstruation to break down these barriers.

In a heartwarming viral video on Instagram, a teacher with the help of two students is seen teaching a room full of Class 7 kids about menstrual cups, sanitary napkins, and tampons. The video was shared by the Instagram page Pyari Period, which is supported by Yale University and Wesleyan University.

Kishan and Sujal, class 7 students, demonstrated to their classmates how to use menstrual cups, tampons and pads and how they are different from each other in terms of usage and sustainability.

Emphasizing the environmental and health benefits, they pointed out that packaged pads contain plastic, while reusable cups and cloth pads are better for the environment and one’s health.

The post also underlined the importance of educational sessions on menstrual health and hygiene.

“Kishan and Sujal volunteered to demonstrate the proper usage of each product while explaining the materials used in each product,” the Instagram account revealed.
