Class 10th Students In Gujarat Score 90% In Maths But Don’t Know What A Triangle Is!

With the Bihar educational scam getting busted, a can of worms seem to have been opened and this time it’s Gujarat which has proven to be no better when it comes to the mess in the education system of the country.

It turned out that several class X students of Gujarat, who have scored 90% in maths objectives can’t tell the difference between a triangle and a circle.

While some defined a triangle as a shape with four sides, others failed to identify set integers on a line bar. There were students who even failed to solve two-digit multiplication and subtraction. However, some of them did show some honesty in their answers as they wrote avadtu nathi (do not know) on the answer sheet.

Students have revealed that a teacher would stand right under the CCTV camera at the examination all and gave out the answers. Some even claimed that they could hear “voices from outside the classroom window.”

“What caught attention of the examiners during tallying of marks was disparity between marks for their objective and subjective answers, particularly in Mathematics. Nothing untoward was noticed even when the CCTV footage of certain sensitive examination centres were scanned,” M A Pathan,  Officer on Special Duty.

The suspicion led to a hearing of 500 students, most of whom have score over 80% with a few exceeding 90% as well. These students hailed from three examination centers at Lambadiya (Sabarkantha), Choila (Aravalli) and Bhikapur (Chhota Udepur) and their results have been withheld.

However, teachers have denied any foul play. In fact, they explained that the students have simply forgotten their lessons in the three months since their board exams.
