17 Everyday Situations That Suck For People With OCD

Be it organizing files in one specific order repeatedly or kicking each and every stone that falls in your way every time you walk, any kind of prolonged and sheer obsession over something may be an OCD. And let’s face it, it sucks.

Interestingly though, this disorder is pretty common and some of the popular Bollywood celebs are also its victims. The talent powerhouse Vidya Balan is known to be obsessed with cleanliness, the beautiful Priyanka Chopra with all things perfect and, the versatile Farhan Akhtar wants things organized in a proper fashion. However, the prevalence of this disorder does not make it any less frustrating for people who just can’t do without such weird obsessive habits.

Following are some of the situations that prove OCD is a devil that hits some of us daily-

1. The multiple door-lock checking rounds in the night (or whenever)

You re-lock just to be sure but all OCD limits are crossed when you get up to do that just when sleep begins to take over.

 

2. Turn around n number of times to see if room is titch perfect before finally leaving

The most common cause because of which OCD victims are never able to reach anywhere on time.

 

3. Call your significant other at exact *insert time* because the sum of the figures is your lucky number

Which means if you live in a strictly orthodox environment, your lucky number will ward off your parents from barging in the room while you share little somethings over the phone as the night falls. Dear God!

 

4. Keep a sanitizer on the bed side

So when you are done watching stuff on laptop in the night, you can get rid of the lappy germs totally!

 

5. Over feed fish to death

Because your obsessiveness does not let you believe that a pinch of worm treat is enough to satisfy its hunger.

 

6. Don’t have the patience to wait for the first coat to dry off so repaint while it is still wet

10. You store courier box/envelopes because they have names written on them

Because you don’t want your or your known ones’ names to go in trash. And even if the condition of the covers is beyond pathetic, you make sure that each and every letter gets cut into nothing.

 

11. You preserve homemade sweets for months

You don’t want to eat them and also don’t want to trash her hard-work so you store it until it starts to grow stuff.

 

12. Check the stove in the night a million times

You check it constantly for 5 minutes. Because if you stop fiddling with it before the decided time, the knob may get undone.

 

13. When washing your face, splash water for *insert favourite number* times

Do this every day, morning and evening to get that flawless skin. If only!

 

14. Read the same sentence a million times

In order to totally feel the thought that the particular sentence is implying. In order to learn that thought and imbibe it in the mind.

 

15. On shifting to a new place, you clean even the most inaccessible of places

Cleaning the track on which the window slides, the track that is too narrow to have your fingers fit! Also, letting the brush reach as deep as it can in the toilet!

 

16. Every night you arrange things on your table in the order you will need them the next morning

And should anything fall out of order, your entire day falls out of order.

 

17. Can’t rest in peace until you kill that mosquito that flew into your room

And keep a book with you just in case the pest attacks again.
For some people, Obsessive Compulsion Disorder can set off anxiety symptoms such as adrenaline rushes and tingly sensations in the butt and these sensations do not go away until you are successful at addressing your compulsions. However, the cloud of OCD battlers also has a silver lining; the lining that gives them the tag of perfectionists. They keep busting their butt until they achieve the goals in the desired way and when the target is finally achieved, they easily become the most awesome people.
