Remember ‘Strings’ With The Superhit Song ‘Duur’? After 8 Long Years, They Are Back!

There are some tunes that are etched into our memory forever. The symphony of these melodies just take us right back to the time we first heard them. And it’s like we’ve opened a gate and with it comes a gush of memories of the yesteryear.

One band like that for me will always be ‘Strings’. Their iconic songs were what first introduced me and so many others to the world of rock bands and pop music.

And yep Duur was our anthem.

“Dur say koi aaye Kahi chupke se woh Dil mai sama jaye… Sajna”

In the year 2000, the Pakistani band made its mark in India with this soulful track and haven’t looked back ever since. Duur became such a sensation in the country that it opened cinema doors for Strings.

I can still visualise their album artwork for Dhani and Koi Aaney Wala Hai so clearly in my head. In a pre-Youtube world, waiting for a TV channel to play a song you liked or replaying the cassettes and CDs on your walkman and diskman was a treat in itself.

Who remembers the guardian angel John Abraham? OMG even this music video had the teenager me bawling my eyes out at the raw emotions that were depicted.

And after a break of almost eight years, Strings has now come out with another song. And it’s proof that even after all these years, talent doesn’t fade.

Strings is still sprinkling their magic into our lives, right!?

The band, originally a quartet founded in 1988 are now celebrating their 30 years of being around. But it was Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia who finally shot to fame and they were the ones who sang many of the songs that became chart-toppers of their time.

Their latest track, Sajni is a combination of the retro vibe as well as the freshness of today. It ventures into new territory while still boasting of the old soul Strings is known for.

It’s safe to say that the 90s kid in me just can’t seem to keep calm.

Heart, soul and lyrical beauty isn’t dead in music after all.
