Stray Dog Saves 5 Abandoned Kittens, Keeps Them Warm During Freezing Cold Night In Canada

It is a common misconception that dogs and cats don’t get along well and start fighting when under the same roof. However, animals are compassionate and it is this quality that makes them have each other’s backs. This incident is proof!

According to a report by NDTV, a stray dog was found sheltering five adorable kittens from a cold Canadian night on the roadside. The 2-year-old female mongrel and the kittens were rescued from a ditch at Chatham, Ontario.

The temperature hit -3 degrees Celcius and the dog was seen snuggling with the five black kittens to keep them warm. The animals were discovered by a passerby and were then taken to Pet and Wildlife Rescue for aid, reveals Hindustan Times.

“The kittens wouldn’t have survived the cold Canadian winter without this dog’s help,” said Myriam Armstrong, a Pet and Wildlife Rescue spokesperson.

Armstrong went on to say that the bond between the dog, now named Serenity by the agency, and the kittens even continued at the rescue centre! However, the agency will be giving all of them up for adoption after a few weeks when they are ready. For now, the kittens need to get fattened up and treated for fleas and parasites. Serenity, on the other hand, needs to get neutered.

As the rescue agency went on to share their pictures on Facebook, love started pouring in from all over the world!

Sometimes, we humans need to learn a lesson or two from animals about selflessness, kindness, and compassion. They continue to emerge as better teachers!
