India’s Statue Of Unity Is So Big That It Is Visible From Space, See Pics!

In a world record, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Statue, the world’s tallest sculpture, on November 1. 2018. Situated in the Narmada district of Gujarat, the phenomenal piece of art took a massive 33 months to be completed.

Despite the incredible amount of hard work and brainstorming that went behind the process, the 600 feet giant statue has faced a lot of criticism. While many stood by the construction citing the importance of paying respect to the man who united the country, the others have slammed it because of the whopping 2,989 crores spent on a ‘useless’ statue.

Keeping the controversies aside, here we are with a fact that will blow your mind.

In a new benchmark that has been set, the Statue of Unity joined the list of man-made structures visible from space! A SkySat image captured by Commercial satellite network Planet shows the towering structure making its presence felt from an incredible distance.

The image was captured on November 15, 2018.

According to India Today, the statue entered an elite of structures which include the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Palm Islands along the coast of Dubai.

For another fact to go crazy about, the statue is 177 feet higher than China’s Spring Temple Buddha which held the previous record and twice the size of the Statue Of Liberty. Wow.
