This Old Video Of Stan Lee Talking About His Obituary Is The Perfect Tribute To His Legacy

Superheroes don’t die. And yet, Stan Lee, the IRL hero who created immortal universes had to leave us at the age of 95.

But immortal he is and his legacy will be kept alive forever…. As fans all over the world assemble to pay tribute to the grand daddy of the Marvel Universe, American talk show host and comedian Conan O’Brien reposted an old interview video of Stan Lee from 1996. Fans are calling it the perfect tribute to his memory.

In the interview, Conan talks to Stan about his 50 years of working with comic books and how it was so hard to fathom that the man ever did anything before that! And that’s when Stan Lee shared some interesting information!

Before he created this amazing world of comic books that we cannot imagine our lives without, Stan Lee worked for a newspaper, writing obituaries for celebrities!

As Stan explained it, newspapers would often have celebrity obituaries ready on file, even before the celeb has died, so that they can print them within minutes of the celeb’s passing away. And writing those was his job!

In fact, he hoped that somewhere his own obituary was already on file!

“That’s how you know you’re famous. I would love to think somewhere my obituary is in a file. Then I’ll know I made it. I don’t wanna see it too soon, but that’s okay!”

You can watch the nostalgic video here:

You called it, Stan. No on-file pre-written obituary could ever do you justice. Your obituaries are heartwrenching and you’d have totally loved to see all of the beautiful ways in which your fans are honouring your legacy.

Rest in awesomeness, you legend. Excelsior!
