The Tollywood film industry suffered a severe blow yesterday when film producerĀ Modugumudi Kishan, and his 31-year-old wife Chandra were arrested in the US for allegedly running a sex racket in the country.
According to reports, the couple used to bluff actresses from the industry of shows and lure them to Chicago. Those girls were presented to customers for ‘dates’ and ‘encounters’ and advertised for sex acrossĀ conferences and cultural events across the country. The work was done in return of lumpsum amounts.
However, actress Sri Reddy, who took the world of media by storm with her ‘casting couch’ allegations hasĀ opened up on the issue.
Reddy, who stripped naked in front of a studio to stage her protest against the ‘casting couch’, claimed that even she was approached by people involved the illegal sex racket that was busted in the US on Friday.
Ā “Even I was approached. They have coordinators in Hyderabad. When people do not get offers here in the industry, they go to US where they are lured into prostitution.”
According to News18, the actress went on to add that the industry is well aware of this kind of practices which are prevalent but still chooses to ignore them.
“They will arrange visa and everything else for you. Artists are paid anything between $1000 (ā¹ 68 thousand) andĀ $10,000 (ā¹ 6.8 lakh) depending on their popularity.”
Well, this comes as a massive statement from the bold actress, and we are nothing but sorry about the shameful practices that go on in the name of business.
