Joy.
This three-letter word strings our world together. And it’s not necessary that it is to be felt only when something big or consequential happens in your life. There are really small but special moments that give us the feels. As I say, it’s always in the little things.
Here are some everyday fleeting moments of joy that leave us feeling blissful.
1. A sweet morning text that puts a shy smile on your face
C’mon, isn’t that a great way to start your day? It could be from your significant other, or a friend or your parents. The kind, caring words leave us smiling ear to ear and it’s pretty inexplicable.
2. A perfectly made first cup of tea or coffee
Doesn’t matter if you’re a tea person or a coffee person, if you get a perfectly brewed cup of tea or coffee first thing in the morning, you know your day is made. The smell of freshness fills you with gratification.
3. A playful dog getting all psyched up upon seeing you
It could be your dog, your neighbour’s dog or even a street dog but seeing it get all excited is such an endearing moment. And the things they do while asking for love or attention, wagging their tails and making puppy eyes, is awwdorable to the core.
4. Perfect weather day
Chances of feeling this are rare, but not depleted. There are handful of days when the minute you step out of your home, you feel the wind in your hair, the sun being kind and the skies are white cotton candy-ish. If you get to feel that, mark my words, you’ll feel a sudden appreciation for mother nature and enjoy every bit of bit of it.
5. Not finding traffic while en route to workplace
The chances of this happening are very slim, but then one fine day, the traffic Gods are kind enough to let you feel that. One helluva feeling, it is!
6. A great group chat with your crazy friends
What’s better than a normal group chat with friends? A crazy-ass, rib-tickling, fun-poking one with them! I don’t think that needs any further explanation.
7. Everything at work gets approved in one go, and things flow smoothly.
No jhik-jhik of the boss, or any roadblocks in your day’s work. It is such a remarkable feeling to cherish.
8. Having a great meal that not only fills your belly but also satiates your soul
FOOOOD, is very important. And, a good meal can do wonders to your mood. But that fantabulous feel when you rub your belly after a soul-satisfying meal is EPIC!
9. Getting off early from work
Wrapping up work on time or early at work equates to your head brimming with ideas as to what can you do to celebrate the brief joyous moment. If you can squeeze an after-work get together or quick hangout plan, then that’s like sone pe suhaga!
10. Video calling your parents and chatting your hearts out
Those who live away from your parents, in different cities or countries will totally relate to it. Seeing your parents’ happy faces makes you all chatty in joy. Amirite?
11. A cute cuddle after a tiring day’s work
This one’s really hard to put into words, but is it also one of the feelings you can’t easily explain. To a tired person, a warm cuddle is like elixir to life. It can be from anyone – your significant other, mom, dad, pet. Such a warm fuzzy feeling!
12. Random night-drive plans with S.O or friends
Receiving a text or call from your S.O, or friends about an impromptu night-drive plan is so damn amazing. To top if off, if it’s a rainy day drive, not only does the petrichor calm you down, but your senses are enlivened in a way you can’t really explain.
Going on long drives always helps. Be it a rainy day, a fun outing with family, or an unplanned road trip with friends just to drink a hot cup of chai from that really old town! And in these awesome drives, your car is an as important companion as your close ones.
