Cops Make Foreign Tourists Write Sorry 500 Times For Violating Lockdown In Rishikesh

Over the last few days, lockdown violations have been rather common. However, the way in which authorities have been dealing with violators has been refreshingly uncommon. From kids being made to do baithaks, inducing embarrassment with aarti to threatening to make them listen to Masakali 2.0, cops are leaving no stone unturned.

According to News18, 10 tourists hailing from the United States, Australia, Mexico, and Israel spotted strolling along the banks of river Ganga in Tapovan area, Rishikesh were asked to write an apology 500 times by the Uttarakhand Police.

NDTV quoted sub-inspector Vinod Kumar Sharma saying that they were made to write “I did not follow the rules of lockdown so I am so sorry.” DNA India further quoted him adding,

“When I caught them strolling, they said they are not violating any guidelines as they are out during the relaxation period. So, I told them that the relaxation period is only to buy essentials and not to roam around.”

Many state governments including Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal, Odisha and Punjab have extended lockdown until April 30, reports The Times of India. Let’s stay home and stay safe folks.
