“A Real-Life Hero,” Says Twitter Thanking Sonu Sood For His “Ghar Bhejo” Initiative

The current migrant crisis in the country has reminded us of how privileged we are. And actor Sonu Sood has shown us that this privilege can be used to help thousands of people. He has made available 1,500 PPE kits to doctors across Punjab, invited healthcare professionals to stay at his hotel in Mumbai and arranged 31 buses to take around 1000 daily wage earners home (Karnataka, UP and Bihar).

The Economic Times quoted him saying, “It has been an extremely emotional journey for me as my heart pains to see these migrants staying away from their homes walking on streets. I will continue sending migrants home until the last migrant reunites with his family and loved ones. This is something really close to my heart and I will give it my all.”

We’ve all seen videos of him flagging off buses but behind-the-scenes, the star has been working 18 hours a day with friend and restauranteur Neeti Goel on the “Ghar Bhejo” initiative. Mumbai Mirror quoted him adding,

“The hardest thing was to get permissions from the home states. We had to make sure the migrants had the necessary documents so that they wouldn’t be stranded at some border for a lack of permissions.”

The actor has enlisted his CA as well as donors from the film industry and the corporate world to get migrants tested, provide them a medical certificate along with food and water, and most importantly ensure that their travel is not charged. Here is how he responds to anyone tweeting him for help:

Earlier, Chef Vikas Khanna named a dish after the actor’s hometown Moga and now desi Twitter is thanking him for being a real-life hero, avenger, and a diamond.

Thank you Sonu Sood, for being such an inspiration in these difficult times.
