In the past week, Sonu Sood has come forward and offered help to a milkman who was forced to sell his cow for his kids’ education and Pune’s Warrior Aaji who showcases her lathi skills to earn for her family. This morning, Twitter user Ankit Rajgaria brought to his attention the plight of the late Mountain Man’s family and the actor vowed to help them immediately.
For the uninitiated, Dashrath Manjhi was a labourer in Gehlaur village, Bihar. According to News18, when his wife slipped in the hills and injured herself, she could not get medical assiatnce in time due to distance. So, the grieving husband took it upon himself to carve a path with a hammer and chisel. After 22 years of back-breaking work, he succeeded in reducing the travel time between Atri and Wazirgang earning him the title of the Mountain man. He lost the battle to cancer in 2007.
