Sonu Sood Promises Help To Milkman Who Sold Cow To Buy Phone For Kids’ Online Classes

For the past few months, actor Sonu Sood has been the very definition of selflessness. From creating a helpline for migrant workers under the ‘Ghar Chale’ initiative to now launching an app to help them look for jobs, he has helped thousands of families across the country.

Recently, he responded to a news article about a villager who was forced to sell his cow in order to buy a smartphone for his children’s virtual classes by saying that he’d like to help him out. Take a look.

According to India Today, the milkman in question is Kuldip Kumar of Jwalamukhi in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. His daughter Anu and son Vansh are in Class 4 and Class 2 respectively and their story was first highlighted by journalist Ravinder Sood. His report states that Kuldip requested help from the panchayat as well as banks and private money lenders for a loan of Rs.6,000 but was turned down. News18 quoted him saying,

“With the switch from classroom teaching to online education, teachers are putting pressure on us that if you want to pursue education for your children, you have to buy a device. With no means of getting a smartphone with our meager means, we finally decided to sell a cow.”

He added,

“I have applied for financial assistance for the construction of a house and inclusion of my name in the IRDP and the BPL schemes, but failed to get due to red-tapism.”

We’re grateful that Sonu Sood has offered his help as the man’s cows are his main source of income.
