While ‘Karte hai hum pyaar Mr.India se‘, not many people were excited about the remake version of Anil Kapoor’s superhit movie. A few days back director Ali Abbas Zafar had made the announcement that he is making a trilogy of ‘Mr India’. And unlike Mogambo, ‘hum khush nai hue’ on hearing the news.
After all, few classic cult movies should remain untouched. Honestly, we highly doubt that anyone can recreate the magic of Anil Kapoor, Amrish Puri, and late actor Sridevi on the big screen. And, now echoing the exact same sentiments, Anil’s daughter, Sonam Kapoor took to twitter to share her disapproval for the trilogy.
Have a look at her tweet:

She pointed out how the film was a part of her father’s legacy and it was ‘disrespectful’ and ‘underhanded’ that he was not informed about the remake. She also slammed the makers for thinking just about the collection at the box office.
consult my father or Shekhar uncle, two people who played a major role in making the film what it was and is. It’s sad because that was a film made with heart and hard work and is very sentimental to my father, beyond commerce and announcements, it’s a part of his legacy.

Sonam went on to say that the makers didn’t consult the two major (Shekhar Kapur and Anil Kapoor) pillars of the movie. She mentioned that they had put in a lot of hard work towards the original movie.
Many people agreed with Sonam and said that ‘Mr.India’ without Anil Kapoor is not a good idea:
Nevermind sonam .. let them make a movie.. its not gonna be good anyways..the performance that @AnilKapoor sir gave is outstanding.. but its all about respect.. they should have had a discussion with sir first.

True
How can someone one even think of #MrIndia without @AnilKapoor or @shekharkapur ?Their expertise is a must even if they are not a part of the remake.
I am sure Mogambo wouldn’t be pleased either.

@sonamakapoor remade version without @AnilKapoor sir could not be as good as the original version…..No one can match the level of @AnilKapoor sir

I really can’t imagine another Mr.India. It’s an iconic film and should be left as it is. None can replace @AnilKapoor n #sridevi #calender n #mogambo. They r unique. Remaking it means insulting the original.

This is just sad!! It makes me wonder if there are no creative writers left in the industry or what. Why do they have to ruin such an iconic movie?

However, some people disagreed with her and pointed out that ‘Mr.India’ was a success due to a lot of people’s hard work:

It’s like you have passed high school but you still expect your principal to call you on every occasion to give details and ask for suggestions!

How bigoted this tweet is at so many levels? Is Mr India ur fathers creation only? Lot of people right from technician to character aritsts to set design to musicians all hav contributed! And not to forget d legend Sridevi..Its not ur dad’s film alone

Girly relax. Industry does not need to ask for a permission from your papa to do business. And this industry is not your personal property. Focus on your work and move on. And movies are movies – public consumption ni your personal home video. #entitlednepokids
