When it came to dealing with her cancer diagnosis and treatment, Sonali Bendre pretty much brought her A-game. The actress has been a symbol of positivity and resilience on social media ever since she announced her illness. Ever so graceful, she’s taken every opportunity to express her love and gratitude to her loved ones over the last few months.

And while others in her profession would’ve hidden away from prying eyes, Sonali is an open book when it comes to the transformation she’s had to have as a part of her treatment.

The Hum Saath Saath Hain actress documented the loss of her lustrous locks on Instagram for all to see, her glorious smile never faltering.

The way she embraced the loss of hair makes her an icon for body positivity. Through her posts, she sents out a message of acceptance and love, both to those around her and to herself. At a time when others would feel dejected over having to battle such a disease, Sonali turned on the sunshine and shined bright.

And today, she shared yet another heartwarming post on self-acceptance. Sharing the Al Pacino quote “Vanity is my favourite sin,” she wrote:

“Well, it might not be my all-time favourite sin (that would be gluttony), but who doesn’t like looking good?

The way we look has a profound psychological impact on us… A little vanity here and there does no one any harm. It’s important to do what makes you happy, even if it’s something as simple as wearing a wig, bright red lipstick, high heels…”

Adding how all the white noise makes no difference in the larger picture, she points out that no one can tell you what’s right or wrong for you.

She then wrote about her thoughts while opting to try out a wig:

“When I was testing out the wigs, I had a brief moment of self-doubt… “Am I vain for wanting to look good?” As part of the entertainment industry, you’re always expected to look good… Maybe that has been ingrained in me?

But then I gave it a thought and I realized I like looking good for me. If I’m in the mood to wear a scarf, I will. If I want to walk around bald and free, I will.”

Sharing a glimpse at her various looks in the course of her treatment so far, Sonali gives her fans a look at her rocking the said wig.
