Sonali Bendre Has The Sweetest Message For Her Son Ranveer On His 13th Birthday

Ever since being diagnosed with cancer, Sonali Bendre has lost no chance to remind the ones who matter of how much they mean to her. And given how supportive her friends and family have been throughout the ordeal, it is understandable why. Her husband has been by her side right from the beginning and has been an unwavering source for the actress. Not to mention how her friends have taken time out of their schedule to meet her as often as possible and even kept her book club alive and running, even in her absence.

But the one person who has been her biggest source of positivity is her son Ranveer. The young boy has really stepped up and acted far beyond his age to bring a smile to his mother’s face at every chance possible.

From the moment he was born 12 years, 11 months and 8 days ago, my amazing @rockbehl took ownership of my heart. From then on, his happiness and wellbeing have been the centre of anything @goldiebehl and I ever did. And so, when the Big C reared its ugly head, our biggest dilemma was what and how we were going to tell him. As much as we wanted to protect him, we knew it was important to tell him the full facts. We’ve always been open and honest with him and this time it wasn’t going to be different. He took the news so maturely… and instantly became a source of strength and positivity for me. In some situations now, he even reverses roles and takes on being the parent, reminding me of things I need to do! I believe that it’s imperative to keep kids involved in a situation like this. They are a lot more resilient than we give them credit for. It’s important to spend time with them and include them, rather than make them wait on the side-lines, not being told yet instinctively knowing everything. In our effort to protect them from the pain and realities of life, we might end up doing the opposite. I’m spending time with Ranveer right now, while he’s on summer vacation. His madness and shenanigans help me #SwitchOnTheSunshine. And today, we derive strength from each other #OneDayAtATime

Having to learn of your parent suffering from a terminal illness is something that affects us no matter how old we are. So we can imagine just how difficult it must be to deal with such news as a teenager. And yet, Ranveer has handled it with a grace that’s reminiscent of his mother’s elegance.

Noone knows this better than Sonali and today on his 13th birthday, the loving mother spilt out her heart for him.

Sharing a video montage of herself and Ranveer, she wrote:

Awww… This makes me miss my mom.

Ranveer who was with Sonali in New York for a while has recently returned to Mumbai and will be spending his birthday away from his mom.

How adorable do they look together?! Ranveer is shaping up to be a handsome young man, and based on the way he has carried himself throughout all of this, he’s quite the gentleman too. Happy birthday, Ranveer!
