Sonali Bendre Writes An Emotional Note For Her Sister, Shares How She’s Been A Constant Support

The Indian film industry had a moment of shock when Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre revealed that she has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer, on July 4th, 2018. While the gallant lady continues her treatment in New York, her family has been standing as a constant pillar of support by the woman.

However, apart from Sonali’s husband Goldie Bahl, there has been another person who has played a significant role in the actress’ resilient battle with cancer. And it’s none other than her elder sister, whom she refers to as ‘Rupa Tai’.

On the occasion of Rupa’s birthday, Sonali Bendre took to Instagram to let the world know what she means to her.

Starting her heartfelt-post with a quote by Pam Brown, Sonali mentioned how Rupa Ranadive left everything and made her sister’s treatment her top priority. From packing her bags to coming with Sonali to New York, Rupa has always stuck to Sonali when she needed the most.

She went on to mention how Rupa has donned the hat of a dictator to ensure Sonali eats the right food and takes medicines on time. She has also performed the role of a counseller offering her the required mental strength to fight the deadly disease. She ended her post by terming the relationship between sisters as a special one. Though they are back to their respective families now, the 43-year-old added that she will always be indebted to her ‘Rupa Tai’ for her guidance in New York.

“An older sister is a friend and defender – a listener, conspirator, a counselor, and a sharer of delights. And sorrows too – Pam Brown.”
Rupa Tai has been all this and more.
She dropped everything in a heartbeat to be with me on this journey. She has been my rock, my person. Rupa Tai was involved in my journey from when I was diagnosed to the time I was deciding the course of treatment to packing her bags and coming with me to New York. She was there from the get-go.
Her transition from one role to another was seamless. A dictator when I needed to eat right or take my meds or an empathetic counselor alternating between giving advice and offering silent support when I all needed was to be alone with my thoughts. She was around. She was with me and by me, at all times.
Sisters share a special relationship. We are literally an extension of each other. For bad days, her presence did the trick and the good day, well, it just got better. We have now returned home, to our respective families and lives – but us together in New York for those 6 months, I am forever indebted.”
