Cancer Survivors Lisa Ray, Manisha Koirala Send Their Love And Support To Sonali Bendre

Words often have the power to crush or lift spirits, depending on how they’re used. In actress Sonali Bendre’s life right now, this plays a rather important part.

Sonali Bendre left the industry and the entire nation shocked when she announced about her ‘high-grade cancer’ that had now metastised.

But her words were not for inspiring pity or sadness. They displayed her immense strength and resolve to fight the battle, and grab every chance she had to emerge victorious.

Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them. There is no better way to tackle this, than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful. I’m taking this battle head on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me.

While Sonali is currently in New York, undergoing treatment, the support pouring in for her has been tremendous. Yet again, these are words that have the power to inspire.

And sending Sonali such words of support, strength and love was fellow Bollywood actress and a cancer survivor herself, Lisa Ray.

In 2009, Lisa was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer of the plasma cells that is not completely curable. After undergoing stem cell transplant for almost a year, she announced in 2010 that she was cancer-free.

Because there’s so much to be grateful for. Because there’s so much grace I received from my experience with Cancer. I don’t wish disease and difficulty on you, but I do wish the teaching that comes from being a Cancer Graduate. I send strong currents back to you, to persevere in finding what makes you happy and to feel at home in your body and spirit 🙏❤️ ……… Forty six and it feels like I’m just getting started. All I want is health, love, continued recklessness to live by my own truth, a sincere wish to wake up to the grace in the everyday…and art. I have a list of preferred artists to gift me if you so wish 😜💃💕💕 #HappyBirthdaytoLisa2.0 #seeknotperfectionbutfreedom Thank you @farrokhchothia for this image and @nonitakalra for making this celebratory moment happen 😘❤️

Another Bollywood actress and survivor of a cancer battle, Manisha Koirala, too had sent in her love and prayers. Sonali even called Manisha her ‘inspiration’.

Manisha’s ovarian cancer was diagnosed back in 2012, after which she underwent chemotherapy and a surgery in New York. She has been cancer-free for five years now.

Speaking from her own experiences, Manisha replied to Sonali’s tweet by assuring her that she will emerge even brighter from her tussle with the disease.

It is heartening to see the love and support that these strong women are providing each other at the time of utmost need. A battle with this disease is an uphill battle that is not in any way easy. And to receive such encouragement and love from fellow fighters is exactly the thing that can inspire Sonali Bendre to fight on.
