Mom’s “Some Men Have Periods Too” Post Talks About Menstruation & Inclusivity

The society we live in sometimes believes in myths, stereotypes and gender-conforming roles. And it is up to us to smash them for the younger generation and teach them about gender inclusivity. School textbooks in Maharashtra are doing their bit by including illustrations of men helping women with household chores and non-traditional families with same-sex parents.

According to HuffPost, England-based mom, Milly Bhaskara taught her four-year-old son Eli about menstruation in the most inclusive way possible.

Mirror UK quoted her saying,

“Eli has been told about periods since he saw blood on my pants a couple of years ago … I didn’t use the language of women have periods because it’s not entirely inclusive.”

She further explained,

“Trans men may have ‘female’ sex organs and still experience periods and some non-binary people have periods too.”

She also shared this message in the form of an Instagram post with her son holding a powerful sign.

It received mixed responses from people online with some saying that the child will get confused while others agreeing with Milly.
