Meet Sophia, Brave Sniffer Dog Who Saved Many Lives In Chhattisgarh By Locating 7 Kgs Explosives

In 2016, 16 sniffer dogs completed their rigorous training at the BFS-run training unit in Tekanpur and were assigned combat and protection duties across the country, reported Economic Times. One of those dogs was Sophia, a German-Shepherd, who was assigned to work at the terror-stricken areas of Chhattisgarh.

To appoint Sophia, also known as ‘Shiksha’, has been proven to be the right decision as recently she has managed to foil a possible explosion and save several lives by successfully detecting 7 Kgs of IED (Improvised Explosive Device) planted by suspected terrorists on an under-construction road at Rajnandgaon district, reports News18.

Sophia, who was on a “search and combing operation” with the troops of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police saved the lives of her colleagues and many people around by alerting them about the IED, which was then destroyed by the troops on the spot, reports DNA. The incident took place on Sunday.

People online lauded Sophia and called her a ‘hero’ and a ‘true friend’ of the forces!

We salute Sophia for protecting our fellow citizens!
