Smriti Mandhana Surpasses Virat Kohli, Becomes 2nd Fastest Indian To Score 2000 ODI Runs

While the men in blue are battling it out with Bangladesh at T20 International, the women in blue have clinched the ODI series against West Indies with 2-1, recently. The women cricket team showcased phenomenal game against the Indies in the three-match series but star batswoman Smriti Mandhana stole the show.

With the final match in the series held at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Smriti has become the second-fastest Indian cricketer to score 2000 ODI runs, reports India Today.

Shikhar Dhawan stands on number one position to have scored the fastest 2000 runs in 48 innings of one day international in Indian cricket. Virat Kohli reached the landmark in 53 innings, while Smriti Mandhana surpassed the captain by scoring the runs in 51 ODI innings.

With this, the 23-year-old left-handed batswoman has become the third-fastest woman after Australia’s Belinda Clark and Meg Lanning to achieve the milestone. Until now Smriti has scored 2,025 runs in 51 ODIs at an average of 43.08. She has four centuries and 17 fifties to her credit in her ODI career, reports News 18.
