But the adrenaline rush that these extreme sports offer may turn out to be short-lived as not everybody is lucky enough to get through it safely. Accidents in adventure sports are inevitable and terrible.

From a bungee cord that could snap to a parachute that won’t even open, risks in extreme sports are dangerous beyond imagination. An accident that took place recently while a woman went skydiving will send chills down your spine.

A woman from Canada went solo skydiving at Trois-Rivières in Quebec. But as soon as she pressed the button, the parachute failed her and did not open. However, things went from bad to worse when her backup parachute too did not open. You can imagine her fright as she was then free falling for 1.5 km! The woman landed in the woods but was lucky to have incredibly survived the fall.

The 30-year-old, however, suffered fractured bones and broken vertebrae in the accident. One of the on-lookers, Dennis Demers, who witnessed the horrifying fall said, “It’s a miracle. I don’t know how a person can survive a fall from an airplane like that.”

The woman is reportedly undergoing treatment at a hospital while a probe has been ordered to investigate the club’s negligence of safety of divers.

We hope that the woman recovers soon. The tragic incident must act as a reminder for adventure clubs to double and triple check safety gear when it comes to risky sports.
