The life of a soldier is full of struggles! From living away from their families to coping up with fluctuating temperatures based on the areas they are posted in, our jawans strive hard to guard our borders. Be it the barren desert of Rajasthan or the freezing Glaciers of Siachen, soldiers certainly have a hard life.
To demonstrate how the day to day tasks become challenging due to extreme climatic conditions, soldiers posted in Siachen shared a video. The clip shows how the jawans struggle to cook frozen food in the Siachen glacier at -70 degrees Celsius.
They are seen hammering eggs and potatoes to break them open. Unpacking a frozen brick of juice, a jawan says, “We’ve to boil this before drinking.”
Another soldier is seen smashing two eggs against each other several times with all his force but in vain. “This is glacier’s egg”, the soldier is heard saying. “It is not easy to live here as the temperature drops to -40 to -70-degree Celsius,” he adds.

At an altitude of 11,875 feet, the Siachen Glacier, located in the eastern Karakoram range, is the world’s highest battlefield. Indian army is guarding it since 1984 under operation Meghdoot.
So, while you cringe at your mom’s cooking every day saying “Ye kya bana diya”, imagine the hardships our soldiers face to cook food with rock-hard eggs and vegetables! We can only salute them for their spirit and dedication!
Respect!
