After Losing Faith In Marriage, Shweta Tiwari Doesn’t Want Daughter Palak To Get Married

My memory of Bollywood actor Shweta Tiwari is that of a humble and harmless girl next door, Prerna, who struggled to stay with her lover in the TV serial ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’.

From doing multiple television shows to winning reality shows and then acting in ‘Mere Dad Ki Dulhan’, her career graph is pretty impressive.

But sadly, that can’t be said for her married life. Tiwari first married actor Raja Chaudhary in 1998 and had a daughter named Palak Tiwari with him. However, they soon parted ways.

Giving love and marriage a second chance, she married Abhinav Kohli after dating for almost three years. They have a baby boy together. However, that didn’t go well too and both of them separated in 2019.

After two failed marriages, seems like Tiwari has lost her faith in it, and hence, doesn’t want her daughter Palak to get married. Talking to the Times Of India, she said that she has now lost faith in it.

“I don’t believe in the institution of marriage. In fact, I even tell my daughter not to get married. It’s her life and I don’t dictate to her how to lead it, but I want her to think well before taking the plunge. Just because you are in a relationship, it doesn’t have to culminate into marriage.”

“Life mein shaadi karna bahut zaoori hai aur shaadi ke bina zindagi kaise chalegi yeh nahi hona chahiye. Having said that, not every marriage is bad.”

The actor has raised two kids as a single parent in this judgmental world that sees that as something to be ashamed of. Talking of getting criticized for being a strong pillar for her kids, she said, “A confident woman is often mistaken for being aggressive and arrogant. A lot of people criticize me for two failed marriages.”

“There are many, who are three or four-time divorced, but no one talks about them because they are not in the limelight. People accuse celebrities more. The only support I have ever had is that I never stopped working and I am financially independent. I thank God that I am a working woman.”

After going through so much in life, the fact that she powered through and raised her kids well single-handedly is worth all the praise. As for her daughter, to each his own!
