Team India is literally slaying on its tour to West Indies. After sealing the victory in T-20 series by 3-0, team India is now on the ODI and Test series against West Indies.
But, the latest cricketer who is hogging headlines off late is not Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma but 19-year-old Shubhman Gill! In the third, unofficial Test match against West Indies, Gill managed to put team India in the driver’s seat with his stellar partnership with Hanuman Vihari.
Scoring 204 off 250 deliveries Gill became the youngest Indian cricketer to score a double ton in a first-class match. The record was previously held by now MP and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir. He had scored 218 runs for India Board President’s XI against Zimbabwe in 2002 at the age of 20.
Twitter soon flooded with praise for Gill and he is being hailed as the ‘next big thing in cricket’ by netizens.

Shubham Gill should get a chance against SA in tests. If KL Rahul fails against WI then Gill should get a chance at opening position with Agrawal vs SA. Gill is consistent for past 2/3 years but got just 3 chances…!!! #ShubhamGill #WIvIND #INDvSA

The right-handed batsman helped set up a score of 373 on the board for the Indies. His phenomenal performance in the team ‘A’ innings of the series is certainly admirable!
Congratulations Shubhman Gill! Keep flying high!
