Shivaji Satyam Reveals That His Legendary ‘Kuch Toh Gadbad Hai, Daya’ Was Originally Not Planned

The TV series ‘CID’ is iconic not only because of its run-time of 20 years between 1998 and 2018 but more so because of its characters and their dialogues. ACP Pradyuman, Senior Inspector Abhijeet, Senior Inspector Daya, and others have solved some great cases and given us phrases that are perfect for memes.

One of these is “Kuch toh gadbad hai, Daya”. Actor Shivaji Satyam recently revealed that his hand gesture while saying this line was not planned by the show creators.

Hindustan Times quoted him saying,

“One day I was talking to him [show creator], discussing something about the scene and he kept on (staring). I asked, ‘What happened?’ He said, ‘The way you were explaining, using your hands, will you be able to replicate this as ACP?'”

Giving his two cents about the flaws that have been pointed out regarding the show he said,

“CID was never a reality show or a docudrama. It was pure fantasy. You have to finish your subject in one hour or 45 minutes. So somewhere you had to take jumps. A case would take months to solve. There are certain (cases) where you’ll need more than two episodes to go. You can’t shoot each and every paragraph of a story. So those things will always be there. There’s always be something which will be illogical but life also is illogical sometimes.”

Signing off, he also hinted at a CID reunion which was in the works but got put in the backseat due to the pandemic. Hopefully, we’ll get to see it soon!
