Internet is a crazy place and crazier are the netizens! Various bizarre challenges often keep popping up on social media which are both fun and dangerous. Some of them like the ‘Microwave challenge’ where a person rotates like a microwave plate was a treat to watch. But the ‘Bird Box Challenge’ where people drove a car blindfolded was risky that lead to many accidents.
Adding to the weirdest list of internet challenges that drive people nuts is the latest ‘Shell On’ challenge! Teens are eating the packaging of food whether natural or plastic in this super bizarre challenge.
Videos of them eating banana peels, lemon zest, egg shells, candy wrappers and plastic packaging of food under the ‘Shell On’ challenge is going viral on social media.

Hamm, a high school student whose video of biting off a carrot packaging in his attempt to take the ‘shell on’ challenge a notch higher is going viral, spoke to AZ Central about the challenge.

“It just looks funny, because it’s not really a shell but people are calling things shells. I guess that is what’s funny about it,” he said.
He also shared that the funniest ‘Shell On’ challenge he’s seen so far was of someone biting into a lemon peel. The lemon juice squirted into their eye.
Parents of the teens are, however, warned about the risks of the challenge. “Organic material like fruit peels are typically not dangerous. Zest is often used in recipes (lemon zest) which is the shavings of the rind,” Chicago-area physician Max Plitt told the New York Post.
“Eating plastic, on the other hand, can be dangerous. BPA has been suggested to influence hormones. Chemicals in PVC like vinyl chloride have been linked to cancers,” he added.
People from all over the world have reacted to the weird Shell On challenge that is spreading like a wildfire on social media. Some said that they regret to be living in such a time where stupid challenges like this are encouraged. Others believe that something like this is going to be the next big college sport!
