Shashi Tharoor can be my English teacher anytime. And we won’t even need to conduct classes in person because his Twitter is pretty much a dictionary, helping you learn new words like ‘farrago‘ and ‘moledro‘, amongst others. But learning is a two way street, you know. And this morning, Twitter’s resident English professor, Mr. Tharoor, received a lecture from internet trolls on religions.
It all started when Shashi Tharoor made a boo-boo on Twitter while sharing greetings for Mahavir Jayanti, erroneously using Buddha’s picture instead of Lord Mahavira!

Uh oh!
Now you know what happens when celebrities or politicians make such mistakes, right? Trolls = Triggered!
Light travels faster than sound. But you know what travels faster than light? Trolls tweets!
1. OK!
He can't differentiate between Mahavir and Buddha but is an expert on Indian religions. OK. https://t.co/CUpwczA6IS

2. A very ‘subtle’ reference to the book Shashi Tharoor has written about Hinduism….
And ths Mr Farrago ….just wrote a book 'Why I am A Hindu?' . 🤔😂 #WishLikeShashiTharoor #MahaveerJayanti https://t.co/gLyQ385Q3I

But things got super super hilarious when trolls began using the same old but completely gold ‘galti se mistake‘ funda to mock the politico!
Mauka Mauka!

Well, the trolls were successful in catching Tharoor’s attention because he tweeted an ‘almost’ apology, also sharing with everyone the source that prompted him to make this error.
And quite smartly, he even pointed out the silver lining! Nice save!
Here's the source for my picture: https://t.co/OrNVaFsJqd
Authentic, accepted alternatives most welcome. At least, thanks to my apparent error, a lot more people are tweeting on Mahavira than they would otherwise have! https://t.co/vYHNgeeY22— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) March 29, 2018
Now, as Harvey Dent from Dark Knight once said, “You can either die fighting trolls or live long enough to see yourself become a troll.” And that’s what Tharoor began doing!
Apparently, two news channels made the same mistake as Shashi Tharoor and the ‘teacher’ that he is, he tried to point out their mistakes!
1. Join the club!
Welcome @AmarUjalaNews to the club of mistaken Mahavira pictures! https://t.co/5g3W305RZt
And others as well:https://t.co/4g8yLALWQa https://t.co/hf3RureyLA— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) March 29, 2018
2. He managed to troll his trolls, the news channel and Steve Smith & Co., all in one tweet!
Seems @ZeeNews has deleted their erroneous image. But i believe in owning up to my mistakes & not concealing the evidence of my errors. So my mistake (&the chortling that followed) is there for all to see. Honesty (as @stevesmith49 &co have found out) is always the best policy. https://t.co/8h1pfNYN8V

Okay Mr. Tharoor, apology accepted, I guess. But please, next time, don’t make such a farrago of images about religious deities!
