Recently, videos of a 76-year-old grandma took the internet by storm! Dressed in a black pencil skirt, a white shirt and stilettos, she aced a viral Instagram trend like no other.
Speaking to Indian Express, the Daadi, whose name is Shanta Verma, opened up about her journey. She was born in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzzafarnagar and was married at the age of 15. All her life, she has been busy taking care of her family and the household.
What is interesting is that her current Instagram profile ‘Mr and Mrs Verma’ was initially named ‘Gangsta Grandpa’ and was meant just for her husband’s humorous content.
Shanta Verma’s granddaughter says, “I made this page for my grandfather because he used to do a lot of funny things. My cousins and I thought that it would be a great idea to put all of that online. However, as we started shooting his dance videos, Daadi would come and say that she can do it better. That’s when we changed the name.”
She revealed that her grandmother is particularly very fond of fashion content. She likes playing dress-up the most!
“Earlier, one did not have so many options in clothes. We wore basic sarees and suits. Now, there is a lot of variety and after last year’s video, I developed more interest and wanted to try out the latest fashion trends,” Daadi said.
While it is the granddaughter Jonita who posts all the content online and handles the account, nothing on it gets posted without her Dada-Daadi’s approval.
“Whenever I shoot a video, she is always very curious to see how the final clip has come out to be and wants me to send it across to her daughter and relatives to get their reaction,” Jonita said.
