The teaser of Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh set the excitement rolling as soon as it hit the internet on Wednesday. Shahid as Kabir is seen in a badass avatar, snorting cocaine, smoking cigarettes and yelling abuses. The amount of dedication and hard work put in by the actor in Arjun Reddy remake is quite evident in the teaser.
A staunch sober in real life, Shahid admitted that it was indeed difficult for him to pretend to be a hardcore smoker and alcoholic in the film.
Talking about his preparations for the film, Shahid told Mumbai Mirror, “I don’t endorse smoking at all. However, the role required it, as the protagonist uses it to channel his angst and rage. It wasn’t easy, and it came to a point where I smoked almost 20 cigarettes a day.”
He would also bathe for a couple of hours before meeting his kids, Misha and Zain. “It would take me close to two hours to shower and get rid of the smells before I could return home to my children.”
Shahid portrays the role of a short-tempered medical student who is brilliant in academics in the film. The story of the film revolves around his character, Kabir, an alcoholic surgeon. He walks on to the path of drugs after his ex-lover gets married to someone else. The Sandeep Vanga directorial, which also stars Kiara Advani in the lead role will reach cinemas on June 21.
