I feel I’ll disappoint you if I start speaking about Shah Rukh Khan. No, I am a huge fan just like you (and the rest of the world), but it’s because I don’t have enough praises.
My otherwise accommodating vocabulary falls short in front of his persona and honestly, I can’t think of anything that hasn’t already been said and written about King Khan. Wait, actually…I do.
The actor/producer/superstar is also a humanitarian; a philanthropist if you may and he was recently honoured at the World Economic Forum 2018 in Davos where he was awarded the Crystal Award for his contribution towards society.
The man of the moment was bestowed with the special honour along with actor Cate Blanchett and singer-songwriter Elton John.
If you’re not in the know, the Baadshah of Bollywood has earned the honour because of his non-profitable Meer Foundation, a charity on his father’s name, that provides support to female victims of acid attacks and major burn injuries through medical treatment, legal aid, vocational training, rehabilitation and livelihood support.
Our Founder and king khan @iamsrk receive the @wef’s 24th Crystal Award, together with @eltonofficial and Cate Blanchett !!
We are very thankful to #ShahRukhKhan for his work toward society

He has also been responsible for creating specialised children’s hospital wards and has supported childcare centres with free boarding for children undergoing cancer treatment.
Now, while I could go and on about his humble self, doing all that he does, I have something more pressing to discuss- his acceptance speech.
SRK floored the entire gathering with his speech and honestly, I’m not surprised. Being his witty self, he opened his address by publicly asking Cate and Elton for a selfie!
“She is, of course, a lady who commands the wind and you sir command the song of a billion hearts, including mine. I am really touched that I am chosen between these two. Just a special request, before you go, can I do a selfie?
Now, there I have embarrassed my children.”
Not just that. He spoke about the brave women, the acid attack survivors he has met and all that he has learnt from them. He said,
He even thanked all the women in his life, including wife Gauri and daughter Suhana like a gentleman, giving us another reason to love him.
“I want to thank my sister, my wife and my little daughter for bringing me up well and teaching me the value of requesting, sometimes imploring and begging a yes from a woman, instead of forcing it upon her.”
You can watch his entire speech here.
Now, repeat with me- there is quite no one like Shah Rukh Khan. Thank you for making us proud and doing everything that you, SRK. Take a bow!
