PETA Asks Women To Put A ‘Sex Strike’ On Meat-Eating Men To Save The Planet

You might have heard about the popular animal rights non-profit organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) which also has an active sister concern in India.

To achieve its aim of stopping animal suffering, PETA keeps coming up with creative campaigns. This time around, the organization is urging women across the globe to stop having sexual intercourse with men who eat meat.

Apparently, a report suggests that men contribute majorly to the climate crisis and have a higher carbon footprint as they consume more meat i.e 41 percent more than women. In reaction to this study, PETA has asked women in Germany to put a blanket ban on having sex with carnivorous men and “go on a sex strike to save the world”, reported Telegraph.

Calling it ‘toxic masculinity’, PETA said, “A study published in the journal PLOS ONE found that men contribute significantly more to the climate catastrophe than women, primarily through meat consumption. Their eating habits result in 41 percent more greenhouse gases.”

Hence, to hold them accountable for their actions, the organization has come up with this idea.

PETA further added, “We all know them—the suburban men with beer bottles in hand, brandishing tongs while cooking sausages on their expensive gas grills,” quoted Times Now. It also accused men of proving their masculinity to themselves and their fellow humans by making barbeques and grilling meat. However, their actions are hurting both animals and the environment.

Not just this, they also called for a hefty ‘meat tax’ of 41 per cent for men to save the planet. “Now there is scientific proof that toxic masculinity harms the climate. A ban on sex or procreation for all meat-eating men would also be purposeful in this context,” a PETA representative said.
