Hyderabad Man Tries To Take Selfie In Front Of A Speeding Train, Suffers Severe Injuries

Over the past few years, the selfie trend has caused more harm than good. We’re hearing more and more stories of deaths and accidents because of this fad. A report last year showed that 60% of all global selfie deaths recorded between March 2014 and September 2016 were from India. Matters became so bad, that the Mumbai police even considered designating 15 particularly dangerous sites in the city as ‘selfiefree points’.

Only yesterday, another video stunt went viral where a Kashmiri youth laid between the tracks and waited for a train to cross him. It is almost like the mantra to making it big on social media is stupidity.

Now, a Hyderabad man has suffered very serious injuries. 22-year-old, Shiva was trying to shoot a selfie video next to the railway tracks when a train was speeding from behind him.

According to Outlook, the incident occurred near the Bharatnagar railway station in Hyderabad three days ago. However, it only came to light when the video started circulating on social media.

In the bone-chilling video, Shiva can be seen holding up the camera and even smiling into the smartphone as a train approaches him. He lifts his hand up and points, still grinning even when the train is almost right behind him.

The video then shows the train colliding with the 22-year-old. The phone falls to the ground before the screen goes blank.

Miraculously, he survived the blow that caused him severe injuries. He suffered major head trauma and was admitted into a private hospital. However, his condition is said to be stable now.

Though, a case under the 147 IR Act and trespassing has been registered against him by the Railway Police force.
