15 Tweets You Should Read Before Booking Your Tickets For ‘Section 375’ This Weekend

Section 375 of the IPC lays down the country’s laws on the crime of rape. It provides a definition for the crime as well as the concepts of consent, will and permission.

Directed by Ajay Bahl, a movie by the same name released today and it revolves around this very topic. The story is about a costume assistant Anjali Dangle (Meera Chopra) who accuses celebrated movie director Rohan Khurana (Rahul Bhat) of rape. Her lawyer Hiral Mehta (Richa Chadha) defends her during a High Court trial against lawyer Tarun Saluja (Akshaye Khanna).

After seeing the movie, people are applauding the acting skills of both lead actors and their hard-hitting dialogue delivery. The first half of the movie is being appreciated for being balanced, crisp and neutral, showcasing both sides of the case in a mature manner.

However, some feel that the debate between law and justice portrayed through the case is concerning. People feel that the events of the second half may hurt the #MeToo movement and its victims.

So, will you watch the gritty courtroom drama ‘Section 375’ this weekend? Or would you prefer seeing Ayushmann Khurrana in ‘Dream Girl’ instead?
